We are working on writing complete, beautiful sentences during writer's workshop. You can read about our stop-motion movie making adventures in my last post. Today, I wanted the kids to write their movie out as a story. We always find that student's are more engaged and produce better writing pieces when they tie to things that just happened in class. For today's lesson, I decided to take all the knowledge we gained about complete sentences and form a rubric for my student's to use during writer's workshop. We created the rubric in Explain Everything. If you do this, make sure to export as an image file to the camera roll. Once I exported it, I just emailed it to myself. I was also able to create the rubric in Explain Everything while reflecting the iPad to the Promethean Board using the Reflector App ;) I then imported the picture into Microsoft Word to print!! Here is a picture of the kids using the rubric while writing their stories. Using Explain Everything to create rubrics with kids was so cool!!
