I have been using Explain Everything on my iPad to start to build an online/listening library for Pickle. There are a lot of reading apps on the iPad but being the controlling first grade parent that I am, I really want to build a rich listening library for Pickle with out favorite stories. The features of Explain Everything also lend themselves to modeling great reading practices. You can use a pointer to encourage your child to follow along while you read aloud. Pickle is in the pretend reading stage so using the pointer and drawing attention to the text is a perfect feature for where we are at in his reading development. The whole project took us 10 minutes to create and record. If we record 2-3 a week, we can have a decent listening library happening by the end of summer. Thank you for reading! I will let you know if I can sustain this process and how much Pickle benefits from it!! Jake Our Final Products (including a story we created focused on the color red) **Watch to the end for a little "Pickle Bonus"Here are some tip photos I made with Skitch!Start by taking a picture of a page, add a slide, take a picture of the next page. (This will be the longest part of the whole experience)Hit the plus button in the left hand side and choose "new picture" to add pictures to slides. You add another slide by hitting the plus sign next to the slide organizer. You record by hitting the red record bottom. You can hit pause or hit the red button again when you are done.
