I LOVE to send home videos the night before our first day that build excitement and set the "techie tone" our classroom. They are fun to make (using iMovie) and can be used for future years! ...and another one!!

I love using the math rack to do quick images and subatizing with children in my first grade class. Here is a video explaining the whole process of using these great tools. Enjoy! Jake I love using Planbook.com! It is a great online resource to stay organized while you plan out your school year! It is very flexible and has many different options to stay organized!! Boom! Enjoy! I am getting ready for the upcoming school year and I am trying to develop some special touches for my future first graders. Today I left some of these special touches in their cubbies for them to find when they move into their cubbies at open house in 2 weeks. This year, they will receive a letter from a first grade buddy as well as a note of encouragement from Mr. Lee. I also included a qr code that will lead them to a "pep talk" from the Youtube star, Kid President. I really feel these notes will help the children feel welcome while also setting the "techie tone" of my class. Hope my future Bees like their surprises. Mr. Lee I have been inspired!!! There is a great, big educational world out there and through conferences like Learning and the Brain and ISTE, I have been fortunate enough to witness this exciting and expanding world!! I really wanted to have a "creative space" in our class this upcoming year. I hesitate to call it a Maker Space because I don't feel like I know enough about the movement to claim it quite yet. I do, however, now have a place for students to create, tinker, and wonder. I am excited to see how it develops this year! My son has been along for this journey. Yesterday, my Little Bits came in and we sat down to tinker. We walked through the basics and I thought that would be it. Dillon was not finished. He tinkered and played for over an hour. That is when I knew our creative space was heading in the right direction. Here is our little video about. |
