I have been an early childhood educator since 2005. I have mostly taught first grade with 1 year as a kindergarten teacher and another as a technology resource teacher for grades K-2. My YouTube links on this site will show my interests and focuses with technology integration. I have really focused on coding and programming, digital storytelling, and digital portfolios. I enjoy traveling to present at conferences nationwide and truly enjoy the opportunities they provide in connecting me with innovative and inspiring educators.
I am focusing on blogging this summer! I have been running this blog for a few years, but can really learn more innovative and interesting ways to promote my blog while also learning tips and trick to crafting more dynamic blog material.
I have blogged in my classrooms in the past, mostly using Kidblog before they changed their subscription platform. It was an amazing experience to connect with other classes and share out our learning while seeking answers to our wonders and questions. Once Kidblog changed, I moved to sharing my kid's learning through Twitter. I have a Twitter account (@TeachingJake) and have had class accounts in the past. I am connected to some educators who I feel really pioneered using Twitter and blogging with students and I look forward to to sharing their work with my classmates.
While I have blogged and used Twitter, I still feel like I have so much to learn. I am hoping to leave this summer with a greater understanding, coupled with a plethora of resources, of how blogging, Tweeting, and YouTubing can motivate and inspire students to share out the world around them.
Thanks for checking in,
