Who is Jake?
Jake is a father, teacher, educational technologist, and avid content creator. He is the father of two beautiful boys who he and his husband adopted from the foster care system. He has been an early childhood educator and educational technology specialist for 15 years. He has a Bachelor’s of Elementary Education and a Master’s of Educational Technology. He has been a featured speaker and presenter at many national conferences including ISTE and the South by Southwest EDU Conference.
As a foster parent and sexual abuse survivor, Jake is hoping to merge his experiences in life and education to model how telling, sharing, and OWNING our stories can help foster meaningful and powerful connections in our lives. Jake currently lives with his family in Oregon but is originally from Artesia, a small town in the Southeast corner of New Mexico. After 4 years of living in Hawaii, Jake considers Hawaii his “soul home” and attempts to infuse the aloha spirit, kindness, and beauty he felt on the islands into his daily life.
Maya Angelou said “The desire to reach the stars is ambitious. The desire to reach hearts is wise and most possible”. Jake hopes that the content he creates reaches the hearts of everyone who takes the time to read, listen or watch his stories.
